The service is great & fast!! The Shrimp & coleslaw is amazing the only issue is the parking lot other than that it's a great place to buy your seafood from!! I come all the way from country club Hill just to get my shrimp love it hope they consider opening a Haire's in the southern suburbs...great job Haire's you get

So the comparisons to Lawrence Fisheries are, in my humble opinion, not accurate. The shrimp are not nearly as large here, and the batter is more traditional than at LF. However, the quantity of medium sized shrimp was generous. (At $33 for the Large Shrimp Dinner the portion should have been generous). Lawrence's is far superior--not to denigrate Hair's. The service was friendly but ordering on the phone was challenging; she talked way too fast and seemed very distracted. There was one really big negative--the French fries are clearly not fresh: They tasted very "soggy" and unevenly cooked. Some looked black like they were fried in days old oil, while others did not seem cooked long enough and were saturated with grease. The shrimp did not suffer the same fate. Finally, I much prefer this location to the previous venue on 81st and Vincennes, however there is no dine-in option now. All in all I rate Haire's Gulf Shrimp 3.5 Stars

Haires Gulf Shrimp serves up the BEST fried shrimp in Chicago. They have the perfect batter to shrimp ratio in my opinion. The service is always pretty fast and the shrimp is always fresh and made to order. This is definitely not a sit down spot but, this is where you go when you're looking for a casual meal to take home with you.

Amazing take out only no dine in or drive thru. They specialize in shrimp only and you can get a side of fries or spaghetti. The shrimp are cooked beautifully. What makes them stand out is they are fresh, clean, perfect amount of breading, and made to order. The establishment is friendly and they are a well oiled machine. You can order a large bomb bag of shrimp or small bomb bag of shrimp. Lawrence fishery better watch out because this place knows what it's doing. I would highly recommend if you want to enjoy some fresh fried shrimp to check this place out. It is a hit! 5 out of 5 for me!

OMG, I am a FAN of Haire's Gulf Shrimp! This place has been around since the early '80s, and this informal counter serves up some Louisiana-inspired fried shrimp, in bags or as dinners. I ordered the Small Dinner, which comes with 14 fried shrimp (yes, I counted!), a side of coleslaw, and your choice of fries or spaghetti; I opted for the spaghetti. The shrimp was about medium-sized, and they had a nice crispy batter; it wasn't too thick, though, as you could still taste the fresh shrimp inside. You get both hot sauce (tasted like Texas Pete) and cocktail sauce (seemed like a house recipe (?), as it had kind of a mix of sweet & sour/mumbo thing going on). Honestly, I thought it was a little weird that spaghetti was being served as a side, but it seemed like it was a super popular dish that's usually not available and/or it's sold out quickly. However, the spaghetti? It was SO GOOD! It was made with ground turkey, which I thought was amazing, and it was more on the sweeter end - it literally tastes like Filipino spaghetti (aka, from Jollibee's), so I was a fan! The coleslaw was creamy and had a slight tang to it; it was a great complement to the meal! Both of the sides are super small, though, as it comes in a condiment-sized cup. Staff are very sweet and kind! There are about 3 'chairs' inside to wait for your order, but note that this is strictly a carry-out place. You place your order at the counter and they provide you a ticket with a number; once your order is ready, they'll call your number out and you pay then. You can also place your orders online or call ahead for a pickup. There is free parking in their lot; note that the entrance is one way. Never disappointed when I come to Haires Gulf Shrimp ! The BEST SHRIMP in a bag ! I just happened to be in the area and had a great taste for shrimp.... If ever in the area, I recommend you stop in and grab a bag...

Delicious spaghetti served as a side? My mind was blown. And the shrimp!! Perfectly battered and seasoned well. This is a definite must try when you visit. It is carry out only, so it's best to call in your order and pick it up. The service was quick, and the staff member was nice and accommodating. Add this place to your list and thank me later.
